I was pleased to see that Kelly Dycus won the race for 3rd District Magistrate.
I have known Kelly since she was a teenager. She is bright, articulate and hard working. Beside being a small business owner providing mental health counseling to people in the area, she is presently serving as interim Executive Director of the Sunshine Center.
I served on Franklin County Fiscal Court for 20 years and I know from experience the more diverse the court is the more likely they will make wise decisions on a whole gambit of issues.
As an example, shortly the state of Kentucky will receive over $400 million from a drug company court settlement and half of that money will be distributed to city and county governments to combat the drug addiction problem. Another court decision involving Walgreens and CVS will bring another round of money into the Commonwealth soon. Kelly's experience in the field of mental health, domestic violence and substance abuse recovery brings a skill set to the court no one else has and will hopefully help the Fiscal Court make wise decisions on how to use this money in a way that will have a positive impact on people in this community.
