Dear editor,

I am writing to express my disappointment in your decision to publish a negative political cartoon slamming Gov. Matt Bevin at the same time you published the governor's column (“Time for fathers to step up,” June 12) about men becoming better fathers.

Your decision to publish this controversial cartoon on the same day that the governor tried to promote a positive message about men, family and adoption as we approach Father's Day lacked respect and class. You could have bolstered his message or not said anything, but instead your paper chose to add to the uncivil discourse sorely embedded in our community.

Please consider taking a leadership role in uniting our community over issues like fatherhood and adoption. Thank you.
