‘All Saints Sunday’ concert is Nov. 5

Dr Caroline Gibson, soprano, performs at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.

Special to The State Journal

Dr. Caroline G. Gibson, Soprano Artist in Residence and Assistant Professor of Music at Kentucky State University, will present an “All Saints Sunday” concert at the Church of the Ascension.

For the past two years the Frankfort community has seen Gibson in her role as the Director of the KSU Opera/Musical Theatre Workshop, and has supported and enjoyed the annual “Gala” events. Now, the public will have the opportunity to see Gibson in action in another capacity — as an opera singer.

The public is invited to enjoy the “All Saints Sunday” concert at the Church of the Ascension, 311 Washington St. Frankfort on Sunday, Nov. 5. John Martin will accompany the recital. “All Saints Sunday” will feature works by Handel, Strauss, Faure, Puccini and Verdi. This concert is free and open to the public. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. — and be aware that Daylight Saving Time will have ended earlier that morning.

Gibson teaches Major and Minor Applied Voice in the Division of Fine Arts at Kentucky State University. Additionally, the soprano is the Director of the Opera/Musical Theatre Workshop and Chamber Singers, and teaches diction and vocal pedagogy.
